I love this little guy

I can't believe how big my sweet Hayden is getting. I took dinner tonight, to a friend who had a baby, and the baby looked so small to me. I can hardly remember Hayden ever being that small. He was only 5 lbs when he was born. So grown up! The things he does and learns amazes me everyday. I think he is going to be a great cook someday... he loves to play with my pots and pans and "stir" what he is making and feed his food to me!

Our new truck

I wish. Since Mike wrecked his car he thought he would treat himself while his car was getting the bodywork done… so this was the rental car he got! I ended up driving it more than him because he didn’t want to drive the gas-guzzler to work and park it downtown on the street. I have to admit it was really fun driving it around. Hayden even thought it was pretty cool. He kept laughing and looking around the cab the first time we drove it. Sadly, Mike’s car was fixed very fast and we had to give the truck back. It was fun while we had it, but I think we were both secretly wishing we could have it for the weekend!!!

Freaky neighbor

I would say that I am home a good part of each day, and while at home I spend a decent amount of time in my kitchen at the sink. For those of you who have not been to my home I have a window right above my sink that looks out to our back yard, and some neighbor's backyards. I would like to discuss one of these neighbors, because I fear for my life, ok not really but he is freaking me out. If you look at the pictures, his back door is right in line with my window. Not the greatest pictures but I had to take them fast... let me tell you why. He is always standing at his door staring at me. Ok, I don't really know if he is actually staring at me because we are just far enough away from each other that I can't really see his face, but I know he is looking in my direction at least. The other day he waved at me, not a friendly "Hello Neighbor" wave, but a slow I am watching you wave from inside his house. I feel weird now when I want to be at my sink because I have to try to secretly look first to see if he is there. I have tried to just ignore him and hope he doesn't think I am looking at him, but it is hard. I have thought about just keeping my blinds shut, but I hate feeling like I am in a cave. I don't know what to do. So hopefully we will sell our house so don't have to worry about it anymore, but until then, if I come up missing.... please show the police my blog.

Tricky

It is funny the tricks you learn as a mom. Hayden does not like to get his diaper changed anymore. I guess he is just sooooo busy to take time out of his day for a diaper change. It has been really annoying, because what should take a minute turns into ten minutes of chasing him around and trying to persuade him to lay down for one minute! Well, I have found a trick... I don't know how long it will last, but, Hayden is really into lights and lamps right now. He loves to turn them off and on and see the lights. So, to get him to change his diaper all I have to do now is ask him if he wants to turn the lamp/light on or off. He says "ya". I then tell him we have to change his diaper first then we will do the lights. He lays right down. Tricky huh. I just hope his facination with lights continues until I find something else that might work. I am amazed at what he thinks is neat... I wish I were that easy to entertain!

Snowshoes are fun

For Valentines's Day and President's Day weekend we took a little trip to Cascade. I was a little antsy on the drive up waiting for a call from my friend Jessica to see if we had been chosen to go on Ellen. She called on the way there and we were not chosen. I was glad that I found out before we got there because I would have been thinking about it all weekend! I have been wanting to stay in the Ashley Inn in Cascade, but never have because it is a bit more than we usually spend, but we decided to try it out for this trip. It was nice, but it wasn't so much nicer than other places near-by that we could stay, so we probably won't go back. On Saturday morning we went snowshoeing. It was so much fun. Mike carried Hayden on his back in a hiking backpack and we trecked around the river and park area. I was a little worried that Hayden wouldn't like being in the backpack, but it was just the opposite, he wanted to get back in when we stopped for a break. He giggled and giggled when Mike would go up and down little hills. I guess he liked tipping to the side. It was pretty cute. We had a really good time... I want to do it again.

We had car problems yesterday... with both of our cars. I'll start with mine. I was driving around yesterday and it felt a little weird, like I was getting a flat tire. When I got home I looked at it and it seemed to be a little low, but I wasn't sure. I figured Mike could look at it when he got home. A little later during the day I got a call from Mike. He had been in a car accident, and it was his fault. He ran a red light. He had just gotten a call that someone he knows who has been having medical problems, was in the hospital again, so he was distracted with that, trying to hurry to the hospital. Luckliy, as far as car accidents go, it was not an awful one. No one was hurt, just the cars a little. Mike will need a new bumper. Mike looked at my tire, and I had a big screw in it. He took it off for me so I could take it in today and have it fixed. I guess we will survive as both things could have been worse! Anyone know a good body shop?

I almost pee'd my pants!

Let me do a little explaining here… A few days ago I got a call from my friend Jessica. She said she was watching the Ellen Degeneres show, and Ellen has a contest going where she is sending 4 people on a road trip to her show in L.A., so Jessica thought that herself, Karalenn, Alyssa, and I would be perfect for this. We have all been friends forever, and we would have so much fun on a road trip! This is a senior picture of us. We all put our thoughts together and came up with a funny letter about why she should send us. Of course we thought it was funny…but apparently the Ellen show did too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They called Jess today for a phone interview and told her they really liked our letter and thought we would be fun for their trip! They asked her for more info about all of us and asked if they chose us if we could be ready to go possibly the next day after letting us know. When Jessica called me, I almost pee'd my pants. We were screaming like crazy! I never ever in my wildest dreams would have thought that it would go this far. We haven’t been chosen yet, but we are hoping!!! Here is the link to her show.

Things to never do...

1) Do not get excited on a Saturday night to turn your straight, flat hair into beautiful bouncing curls, by sleeping in soft curlers over night. You'll be surprised, like me, that it doesn't quite work. See my surprised face!

2) Once you have the curls, do not "fluff" them out. It only makes things worse. See my crazy face!

3) Do not attempt to take a close up picture of yourself moments after getting out of bed, with no make-up on, and the above described hair. You will not look good. See both faces above!

4) Never, ever post pictures of yourself like this on the internet. I guess this means I am out for Miss America. You know how they like to dig up old photos and ruin your life. Darn.

I feel like this lady looks...kind of craaaazzzzyyyyy. Today is the first day that I have left the house since Saturday afternoon. On Sunday church was cancelled because of the snow. Monday I had cleaning and stuff to do around the house, so by the time I was ready to do something it was Hayden's nap time, and then Mike was coming home from work. Today when I woke up I told myself we have to get out. What ever we do we have to get out. We went to the booming Karcher Mall. They actually have some ok stores in there now. Plus, Hayden loves running up and down the halls. I found a cute shirt for $7.50 at Macy's clearance center. I love that store. I am feeling a little better. I think I am going to have a vitamin D deficiency from not seeing the sun.

Little bum

I wish I could walk around with my bum showing and just not care!

Nostalgia

Mike wanted me to make his family's cinnamon rolls for a Super bowl treat this weekend. I hesitated, because these cinnamon rolls are 100% nostalgic for him, and I knew that he would be disappointed when they would not turn out exactly as his great grandma made them. But I tried. They did not turn out like he remembered. He still humored me and said they were good though. It is funny the things we remember... and how we want them to be exactly the same. To me these cinnamon roll are just ok. I actually call them caramel rolls because they have a caramel sauce, not the traditional cinnamon roll icing. But to him they are the only cinnamon rolls worth eating. I have something similar; Bacon corn waffles. Every time we would spend the night at my grandma and grandpa's they would make us bacon corn waffles. They were so yummy, and I would eat probably 10 of them. I make them now sometimes, and Mike thinks they are good, but I just rave about them! We all have things from our childhood that we remember that nothing can top... I am gald we have those memories. I hope someday Hayden will be asking his wife to make the ________ his ________ used to make him.

My "Hello" moment

A few weeks ago I bought a new jug of fabric softener at Costco. I didn't think it was going to be anything special, just Kirkland brand. Hello... I can't get enough of the smell. This is going to sound weird, crazy, psycho, what ever you want, but every chance I get to smell something that has been washed with this softener I do! I have even found myself doing more laundry so everything will smell like it. I have always used fabric softener, but this one has changed my life. I even have Hayden smelling clothes because he has seen me do it so often.
