A typical day

Very little is needed to explain these pictures of my typical day of following Hayden around and cleaning up after him. All I can say is I love him! All of these pictures happen to be in the kitchen, but believe me he is all over the house! Hayden eating mayo after getting into the refrigerator.
Hayden helping to unload the dishwasher!
The fake fruit bowl is his favorite!

Boy was I wrong...

I like to think that I am never wrong, but I had high hopes of my sweet husband posting on our blog. Nope. So just letting you know that I, Maria, am no longer going to be writing in the third person, as if you all couldn't tell who was writing all of the blogs anyway! So if Mike wants to post someday that will be great, but for now I think you'll be hearing just from me!!

I can't wait... the office is coming!

I am dying for the new season of "the office" to start... which is September 27th, for those also dying for it to start. I haven't felt like I "knew" characters on a television show since high school and Beverly Hills 90210 was on. For those who aren't faithful office viewers, the show is about the daily lives of office employees in the Scranton, Pennsylvania branch of Dunder-Mifflin Paper Company. The show takes the form of a documentary, with the camera acknowledged by the characters. This is the best part! It is the funniest, craziest show ever... I love it! Will Pam and Jim finally start dating this season. Cast your vote!

Squint

Mike has finally agreed to go to the eye doctor after several years of needing to go, and several years of Maria pestering him. He tried to get away with wearing the glasses in this pic, but they didn't work too well for him.We are not quite sure exactly just how blind the poor guy is, but Maria is guessing it is going to be pretty bad.

Maria thinks it is so bad that she has a vision of Mike emerging from the appointment with glasses on or contacts in, and him bursting into this song..."I SEE trees of green, red roses too, I SEE skys of blue, and clouds of white, and I think to myself, I can finally SEE." Along with singing, he is twirling his arms and spinning. (If he really does this, it would be well worth the wait to have him get his eyes checked!)

Teething

We are trying to be positive through this time of teething for Hayden... but it sucks! He is currently getting all four of his top teeth. I am sure it is very uncomfortable for him, and we feel really bad, but he has been getting up every night, several times a night, and is very whiny and needy during the day. He is so cute and sweet though, so we will put up with anything for him! If any one has any tips or tricks that worked for them, let us know!

Go Broncos!

We made a trip to beautiful Jerome and Twin Falls this weekend to watch the Broncos game and have some fun! Mike had fun with his good buddies, Matt and Collin, from high school, even though the Broncos didn't win. For part of the game Maria and another one of the wives, Suzie, went scrapbook shopping which is always fun! When Maria and Suzie got back the game had been on for a while, and cute little Abby, Matt and Suzie's daughter, said to her mom "there has been a lot of yelling here!" Mike and his friends like to coach from the couch. Mike was disappointed about the loss, but I guess they can't win them all.

Props for Mike

Congratulations to Mike who has been working so hard to get his CPA (certified public accountant) license- he has passed all of the tests! It took about a year and a lot of studying, but now that it is over it was well worth it. Maria is glad it is over too because Mike didn't especially like getting up at 5:00 am to study every morning, which made him cranky at times! The extra money is always nice too, Yeah Mike!!

The Big Taco Debate

We have a debate about taco meat in our family. Mike likes his taco meat very dry and crumbly. Maria likes hers the exact opposite, and so does Hayden! We had tacos on Sunday night and conveniently Mike offered to make the taco meat. Maria was busy doing something else, so she couldn't say to Mike, "No honey it's ok, I really don't want to chip my tooth again on your taco meat," So Mike made the taco meat. Maria is not complaining that Mike wants to help out with dinner, however! Even though we had dry meat, the tacos ended out to be pretty darn tasty. A poll has been set up at the top of the page if you would like to help Mike and Maria settle their debate about taco meat. Happy taco eating.

Why do we go camping?

For one of our family reunions this past weekend we went camping to Silver Creek Plunge. If you aren't oblivious to the news you know well that camp fires are not allowed, so it was a little different than any camping trip we had been on in the past. This was Hayden's first time camping. We think he liked it, except at night. The first night he woke up about every fifteen minutes... so, we did not sleep at all. He was very confused about where he was, and probably cold. The second night was a little better, were were all just numb from the first night. Luckily since we weren't able to have a fire we kept warm in a cook tent, heated by propane stoves. There was also a motor home there which made it a little more bearable. One morning while huddled in the cook tent, trying to stay warm, we all looked at each other and asked why do we do this? Why would anyone choose to sleep on the hard ground, freeze at night, and do their business in an outhouse? We all laughed and realised despite those things camping is still fun! Hayden had a blast playing in the dirt. We, however, did not have a blast cleaning him up! The best thing after camping is going home, taking a shower and sleeping in your own bed!
