I can't believe how big my sweet Hayden is getting. I took dinner tonight, to a friend who had a baby, and the baby looked so small to me. I can hardly remember Hayden ever being that small. He was only 5 lbs when he was born. So grown up! The things he does and learns amazes me everyday. I think he is going to be a great cook someday... he loves to play with my pots and pans and "stir" what he is making and feed his food to me!

Tricky
It is funny the tricks you learn as a mom. Hayden does not like to get his diaper changed anymore. I guess he is just sooooo busy to take time out of his day for a diaper change. It has been really annoying, because what should take a minute turns into ten minutes of chasing him around and trying to persuade him to lay down for one minute! Well, I have found a trick... I don't know how long it will last, but, Hayden is really into lights and lamps right now. He loves to turn them off and on and see the lights. So, to get him to change his diaper all I have to do now is ask him if he wants to turn the lamp/light on or off. He says "ya". I then tell him we have to change his diaper first then we will do the lights. He lays right down. Tricky huh. I just hope his facination with lights continues until I find something else that might work. I am amazed at what he thinks is neat... I wish I were that easy to entertain!

Snowshoes are fun
For Valentines's Day and President's Day weekend we took a little trip to Cascade. I was a little antsy on the drive up waiting for a call from my friend Jessica to see if we had been chosen to go on Ellen. She called on the way there and we were not chosen. I was glad that I found out before we got there because I would have been thinking about it all weekend! I have been wanting to stay in the Ashley Inn in Cascade, but never have because it is a bit more than we usually spend, but we decided to try it out for this trip. It was nice, but it wasn't so much nicer than other places near-by that we could stay, so we probably won't go back. On Saturday morning we went snowshoeing. It was so much fun. Mike carried Hayden on his back in a hiking backpack and we trecked around the river and park area. I was a little worried that Hayden wouldn't like being in the backpack, but it was just the opposite, he wanted to get back in when we stopped for a break. He giggled and giggled when Mike would go up and down little hills. I guess he liked tipping to the side. It was pretty cute. We had a really good time... I want to do it again.

Things to never do...
1) Do not get excited on a Saturday night to turn your straight, flat hair into beautiful bouncing curls, by sleeping in soft curlers over night. You'll be surprised, like me, that it doesn't quite work. See my surprised face!
2) Once you have the curls, do not "fluff" them out. It only makes things worse. See my crazy face!
3) Do not attempt to take a close up picture of yourself moments after getting out of bed, with no make-up on, and the above described hair. You will not look good. See both faces above!
4) Never, ever post pictures of yourself like this on the internet. I guess this means I am out for Miss America. You know how they like to dig up old photos and ruin your life. Darn.

Nostalgia
Mike wanted me to make his family's cinnamon rolls for a Super bowl treat this weekend. I hesitated, because these cinnamon rolls are 100% nostalgic for him, and I knew that he would be disappointed when they would not turn out exactly as his great grandma made them. But I tried. They did not turn out like he remembered. He still humored me and said they were good though. It is funny the things we remember... and how we want them to be exactly the same. To me these cinnamon roll are just ok. I actually call them caramel rolls because they have a caramel sauce, not the traditional cinnamon roll icing. But to him they are the only cinnamon rolls worth eating. I have something similar; Bacon corn waffles. Every time we would spend the night at my grandma and grandpa's they would make us bacon corn waffles. They were so yummy, and I would eat probably 10 of them. I make them now sometimes, and Mike thinks they are good, but I just rave about them! We all have things from our childhood that we remember that nothing can top... I am gald we have those memories. I hope someday Hayden will be asking his wife to make the ________ his ________ used to make him.
