Carving our pumpkin

We carved our pumpkin last night. Mike and I decided to let Hayden be involved with this Halloween tradition, so we stripped him down and let him go at it with the guts of the pumpkin. He had so much fun. He laughed and laughed and threw seeds and gunk all over the kitchen. I am still finding seeds. It was well worth the mess to see him having so much fun though. Mike cleaned out the pumpkin and I was in charge of carving. I am not an expert carver, but I think it turned out cute! (It looks way better in person than in the picture!)

Guacamole

Hayden's new favorite food is guacamole. We had some with our dinner the other night and he just loved it! After we had eaten it all he kept pointing to the bowl and yelling at us to give him more. I kept trying to tell him and show him that it was all gone, but he just wouldn't have it, so I finally gave him the bowl to see for himself. He licked the bowl practically clean. He got a little more guacamole and it made him happy!

Halloween Party!

Mike and I went to a Halloween party this weekend. I was an evil doctor and Mike was my poor patient. Mike was a good sport because he is not one to get excited about dressing up for Halloween, but we both had a lot of fun. My cousin Sarah (in the witch costume) and I slaved all morning long of the party to make these witch cupcakes. I think they turned out adorable, and they were yummy too! I was buying candy for Halloween night at Winco in the bulk section ( I guess I am cheap, the good stuff would have been so expensive for the amount I need!) and I was thinking as I was nearing 11 pounds of candy that it is so crazy that we voluntarily give kids candy who come knock at our door! It is fun though. I remember when I used to go trick-or-treating. We would make several trips back home to unload our candy and then sit in the front room for hours trading candy. Each candy had it's trade value. Peanut butter cups were way more valuable than smarties! I can't wait for Hayden to get older and actually know what Halloween is, it will be so fun!

Ode to Mullets

Since it is Halloween time I decided to showcase some good mullet pictures for you all to enjoy. For those of you not up on mullet styles I have included the definition for you... "a hairstyle with the hair cut short on the sides and in the front, but long and flowing down the back neck." I don't believe anyone I know has a mullet, but if you do I am really not trying to make fun of your hair cut. I just think they are neat. Hope you enjoy :)

Fire Breathers

Last night I made enchiladas for dinner. They looked so yummy! Mike and I sat down to eat and they were good. However, a couple of bites in our mouths started feeling a little hot, nothing that a little water wouldn't fix, right? Little by little our mouths started burning, and our noses were running- whoa nelly these enchiladas were hot! Mike went to look at the can of sauce and I had accidentally bought the super fire hot enchilada sauce. So just a lesson to always look at what you are buying even if it is a common item for you to buy, you never know what you may get home with. Luckily Hayden was getting hungry before they were done, so I gave him something else for dinner, because often he will start eating before us- so we would have never known what he was eating until we tried it!

Pose for me!

This is my good friend Jenger. We were hanging out at her house this weekend to watch the BSU game and eat pizza, and I told her I wanted to take a picture of her and she did this pose. I told her I was going to take her picture even if she hid, and I told her I was going to put it on my Blog! So, here ya go Jenger!! Love ya Jenger!!

Shake, Shake, Shake

Mike is still shaking from the latest job of our landscaping plan. We rented a sod cutter this weekend. For those of you who have never seen or used one they shake violently in order to slice the sod in a nice straight line. Poor Mike. He has not stopped feeling that vibrating sensation! We got all of the grass cut with the cutter and took several truck loads of grass away. It has been a lot of work. Grass is heavy. It is fun actually seeing the shape of the beds and getting a vision of the end result, rather than a mess of half taken out grass everywhere. Thanks to Mike's mom and step-dad for letting us borrow their truck, and to my mom for watching Hayden so we could work faster. I suppose Mike and I can't take all of the credit as far as the labor goes either. I found some guys, Butch, Bobby, and a guy with long hair, off of Craig's List, who wanted work. They were cheap. So cheap that we felt bad, so even with paying them more that they asked for we got a lot of work done from them for a really good price! Thanks Butch, Bobby and long hair guy!

Hoeffer Bowl

Every year Mike and his buddies get together for the "Turkey Bowl" football game. This year however, Mike re-named it the "Hoeffer Bowl," not because Mike thinks he and his friends look like cows, but because we had roast for dinner and not turkey like the usual. They had a lot of fun playing and hanging out with each other. With all of us together there are quite a few kids between us all. We decided it would be a good idea to take their pictures. Hayden was a trooper, as you can see in the pictures. He sat there while all of the kids disappeared one by one. He is sooooo cute!!

Landscaping Project

After living in our house for almost four years, we have finally started to do landscaping! A good friend of mine from high school, Amy (Hopkins) Wright is a landscape designer and she designed a wonderful plan for our yard. After the plan was completed we were so excited that we went and bought 8 or so trees to get planted this fall. We started digging a hole for one of he big trees we bought and we ran into a big huge main pipe line for our sprinkler system. We obviously knew there were pipes somewhere down there, but did not expect what we found! So, we have hired a landscaping company to come and move all of our sprinklers around. Mike is declaring this a "nightmare!" I am excited for the adventure of doing this huge project. More pics and updates will be coming as we do more work!

Changes goin' on

I decided that my blog page needed a new look. Not that it didn't look fine before, but two of my blogger friends, Jessica and Karalenn, gave their pages a new look a while ago, and I have to say I was jealous because theirs looked so good! A little jealousy is ok some times, right?!! I have also been making changes to my kitchen table. I am painting it Spanish Red. Yeah, I am so excited. I didn't realize how much work it would be though. I had to strip off the old varnish, sand, strip more, sand, clean, and now I am at the priming stage. Now only 6 chairs to go with that process (Ahhhhhh!) and then the painting job. It has been a lot of work, but I hope it will look nice in the end. We have been using our card table for our kitchen table. Looks very nice huh!

A good weekend!

Why was it a good weekend you ask? Well, on Saturday my good friend, Natalie, from my Pocatello days, came to visit. On Saturday night we went to The Cheesecake Factory- yummy, yummy, and then we watched a million re-run's of the Office! In the pic we are eating cheesecake in between Office episodes. It tasted so good, but after a few bites I felt like I was forcing it down because we were so full from dinner. I guess that is what happens when you go to The Cheesecake Factory!

New Callings

Hayden received a new calling this Sunday as the cutest baby alive. His responsibilities include wearing this cute little tie to church, and smiling with his big smile. Doesn't he look so adorable in this little church outfit!
I really did receive a new calling this Sunday. I am the new Young Women's President. I am a little freaked out, but I have been in Young Women's in different callings over the last two plus years, so I have an idea what is going on. I am excited though.
